#एकाम्रअनुभव: Even Gods Make Mistakes

We all know the power of Miscommunication, strong enough to bring empires down. Human beings have been the enabler and the victim of miscommunication. Even our gods weren’t any different. Lack of timely and effective communication can be a detriment. All we have to do is be understanding, accept our mistakes & move on. But what does it have to do with Ekamra anyway? Well, Lord Shiva is known for his short temper and Ekamra Kshetra has seen it too…

Following the creation of the spring from the earth, Lord Shiva invited all the holy rivers to join in the form of droplets (bindu) & make the water body one of the holiest for Goddess Parvati to drink. All the holy rivers joined from across the known land to adhere to Lord Shiva’s call. However, the goddess of the Godavari river didn’t join. An enraged Shiva cursed her that she'll never be considered holy.

A few days later, the goddess of Godavari river came to Lord Shiva seeking forgiveness & explained that she couldn’t attend the auspicious occasion as she was on her menstrual cycle. Lord Shiva realised that His actions were a result of assumption. He forgave her & also granted her a boon that once a year the Godavari Kund will be one of the holiest kunds & giving pinda to forefathers on the bank of the kund will bring mukti (salvation) to their souls.
