Weekend Conversations – Ep. 2

Following the suicide of Bollywood actor, Sushant Singh Rajput, mental health has been trending on the social media and whatsapp stories. For a consecutive week, I saw, almost all my contacts have posted on their stories stating that they are here for you. They will listen to your issue(s). You can share with them anything you want.

But are we capable of helping a person going through a mental trauma? Are we eligible to provide what the person actually needs? Are we qualified enough to deal with such a sensitive matter that is someone else’s mental state? We need to ask ourselves that question again and again whenever we think of declaring our presence to their aid.

If a person is suffering from anxiety or depression or anything sorts of that they will not come to you for help. In the study of psychology, that is the characteristic we expect in a person going through mental health issues. If you’re close enough or at least if you’re attentive enough, you must have seen the signs of the person sharing his feelings or in the worst case, asking for help. Be there for those innocent souls, not just on your WhatsApp stories.

It took me a while to complete this week’s episode. It is not something that I can write upon so casually. It involves sentiments, emotions, experience of many people. I hope it will help you in finding the key to your escape gate. I sincerely wish that you will find peace in your colour.
